ABBYY Spotlight: Jane Tan, Demand and Field Marketing Manager, APAC

December 20, 2024

Meet Jane Tan, ABBYY’s Demand and Field Marketing Manager for the APAC region.

Celebrating her first year with ABBYY, Jane has been instrumental in driving impactful initiatives that have strengthened our presence in one of the world’s most dynamic markets. From spearheading the AI Summits in Sydney and Singapore to working behind the scenes to ensure the success of our Developer Conference in Bengaluru, her work has been a cornerstone in elevating ABBYY’s reputation as a leader in AI-driven solutions.

We sat down with Jane to reflect on her first year and discuss the exciting projects she’s worked on.

Can you share a bit about your career journey and what led you to ABBYY?

I joined ABBYY in December 2023, inspired by its market leadership and pioneering work in the document capture and automation space. What attracted me most to this role was the chance to lead and drive marketing initiatives while amplifying ABBYY’s presence and impact across the APAC region. I really value the level of empowerment and support I’ve received from my managers and leaders here, which has enabled me to consistently deliver my best work.

Before ABBYY, I held marketing roles at software companies specializing in digital and customer experience solutions. Fun fact: I once worked as part of an OE/CX team focused on optimizing insurance renewal experiences. I’ve always been passionate about the technology industry because of its forward-thinking, open-minded, and collaborative people!

You’ve worked on some major events this year, like the AI Summits in Sydney and Singapore. What was it like being part of those events, and what made them so special for you?

The AI Summits in Sydney and Singapore were major milestones for ABBYY in the APAC region—and I loved every moment!

We received incredible support from the global team, curating engaging agendas tailored to regional markets. Highlights included insightful keynotes from our CMO, Bruce Orcutt, and Senior Director of AI Strategy, Maxime Vermier, who shared valuable perspectives on practical AI use cases and the IDP market. Our product and pre-sales teams also delivered an outstanding panel discussion and live demos.

I’m especially grateful for the participation of our customers and partners, including the Singapore Department of Statistics, Pepper Money, Suncorp, Unilever, Media Track, Tecala Group, Datacom, and Quanton, who shared inspiring stories of how automation and AI have transformed their processes.

With over 200 customers and partners in attendance, these summits were a testament of the market leadership that drew me to join ABBYY in the first place. To me, this reaffirmed that I made the right decision when joining ABBYY.

For those who couldn’t attend, the on-demand session recordings are a must-watch!

In addition to the AI Summits, you also worked on our Developer Conference in Bengaluru. What did you learn from this experience, and how does it align with ABBYY’s long-term goals in APAC?

Our Developer Conference in Bengaluru was a key moment for ABBYY in the APAC region this year, with over 300 developers from one of India’s largest tech communities joining us.

The two-day event was a great success, providing a valuable opportunity to engage directly with developers, showcase ABBYY’s latest advancements, and gather valuable feedback. A standout moment was ABBYY’s own Shark Tank competition, which saw overwhelming participation, with Tech Mahindra emerging as the champion.

This conference reinforced our commitment to providing a platform for developers to reimagine solutions using ABBYY’s technology. It also aligned perfectly with our broader APAC strategy, particularly as we continue expanding into India. The launch of our R&D Center in Bengaluru and the Centre of Excellence in New Delhi highlights ABBYY’s dedication to supporting our growth in the APAC market and meeting the increasing demand for AI-powered Intelligent Automation.

How has your role at ABBYY impacted your professional growth, and what skills have you developed over the past year?

For me, the past year at ABBYY has been one of growth and achievement. Leading marketing initiatives in one of the most diverse regions has taught me to work efficiently, ensuring our activities are both scalable and repeatable across the APAC region. I’ve also adopted a zero-waste approach, maximizing the resources we have to deliver impactful results.

The most rewarding aspect, however, has been the people at ABBYY. If you put in the hard work and take ownership of your success, the team at ABBYY will always support you. Your contributions are celebrated, and your colleagues always have your back. I’ve felt empowered to experiment, innovate, and, most importantly, have a lot of fun along the way.
